9th Grade FF Outline

Hello Parents of 9th grade Confirmation I students,

I appreciate your patience during this transitional time, I know many of you have been eagerly awaiting information regarding this year’s religious education program.  The delayed start of faith formation has allowed us a great opportunity to re-evaluate the structure and competency of our curriculum, and I believe we are on the right path to achieving a Catholic base and student approved approach.

Confirmation is the completion of our Baptism , it perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply and firmly into Christ and strengthen our bond with the Church, and associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds. (CCC #1316-1321)

This is a very important year of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Our goal is to help your child come to know and love Jesus in a more profound way. We want them to know He is real and truly present in the Eucharist, and to understand the unconditional love He has for each and every one of them.  Our curriculum focuses on breaking down the Mass into parts and reframe them into more meaningful and engaging segments.  We hope to awaken your children to the beauty of discovering Christ through the Mass and help them intentionally receive Him as God intended.

For all registered Confirmation I (grade 9) students, currently attending public high-school the students will meet on Sundays at Saint Mary’s Parish hall  from 6-730pm and will be led by our faithful and gracious catechists in one lectured style setting. This is the only class option for Grade 9 and I am hoping sending out this information now will allow for everyone to plan accordingly.  There will be 5 classes, meeting once a month.  Class attendance is mandatory with the exception of extraordinary circumstances in which we can discuss privately if necessary.

Class Schedule is as follows

Sundays at Saint Mary’s Parish Hall 6pm-7:30pm

  • January 5
  • February 9
  • March 1
  • April 5
  • May 3

For all students registered for the grade nine program (Catholic and Public school students) we will be having a retreat on Saturday May 2nd, starting at 12noon.

Retreat Date is Saturday May 2nd 12-5

At Saint Mary’s Parish hall

From 12-3, we will have a welcome lunch, a guest speaker and a series of games and activities.

At 4 pm the students and chaperones will walk over to Saint Mary’s Church and attend 4pm  Mass for the conclusion of the retreat.

Parents are welcome to attend Mass with us.  More information for the retreat will be sent out as the date gets near.

I appreciate your commitment to your children’s religious education and I am looking forward to a very exciting and faith-filled year for our Confirmation I students.  If you have any questions or concerns please email me through our Staff page

In Christ,

Caitlin
