Sacramental Preparation - First Communion & First Reconciliation
The first three years of Faith Formation will focus on helping children to understand that God loves them and that it is important to develop a relationship with Him. The program will emphasize prayer, Mass and Catholic traditions to help families instill the Catholic faith in their children.
Weekly classes will be offered October - April on Sunday mornings from 10:30am-11:30am or Monday afternoons from 4:00pm-5:00pm at Blessed Sacrament School. Families will choose one-time slot on the registration form. Parent teachers are a vital part of the program, please consider volunteering — training, materials, and babysitting will be provided. Group masses will also be part of the program.
First Reconciliation and First Communion are celebrated in a child’s second year in the program. Because of the disruption caused by the pandemic, the requirement that a child has two years of Faith Formation to receive these sacraments will be waived for children in grades 2 and above for this year only.
First Reconciliation will also be a focus this year for those children who did not celebrate this sacrament and made their First Communion this past June. Contact: Kate Hinton at [email protected]
Bridges to Faith
Youth in grades 4-5 are invited to join us for a fantastic faith formation program based on the basic beliefs and traditions of the Catholic Church, as explained in the Bridges to Faith curriculum. Bridges to Faith is an engaging and easy-to-follow program that teaches each of the Four Pillars of our faith: the Creed, the Sacraments, Prayer, and Morality.
Participants will work independently on workbook assignments and check in once a month, remotely, to discuss the content of each chapter. Online assessments will be assigned with each chapter. Parents will receive a companion teaching guide full of activities, crafts, prayer services, and answer keys, in order to help children fully understand the content covered in their workbooks.

Welcome to The Rock!
Youth in grades 6-8 are invited to join us for a fun, energetic, and educational faith experience beginning in early October 2021. Sessions will take place twice a month at The Rock youth center located at St. Mary’s parish and include elements of both formal instruction and service-based opportunities.
Formal instruction: Each month, between October and June, youth will explore the traditions and practices of the Catholic faith through age-appropriate activities and lesson plans designed to spark conversation and a deeper relationship with God. This year’s program theme is Prayer, one of the Four Pillars of the Catholic faith (along with the Creed, the sacraments, and morality). Youth will learn and discuss the various forms of prayer, from the traditional and devotional to the more informal and personal and explore why and how to pray with deeper meaning. The program opens with youth utilizing basic prayers (the Our Father, Hail Mary, etc.) to learn the history and meaning behind the words we recite when we pray and to develop ways to eventually compose their own prayers, so as to have a deeper and more meaningful relationship with God. Special activities include a prayer walk, creating personalized rosaries, journaling, games, and more!
Service-based opportunities: Our faith calls us to follow Jesus Christ’s example and serve others as He did during his ministry on Earth. Throughout the program year, youth (and their families) will be called upon to complete service to others through involvement in various opportunities offered by the parishes. Program participants will be required to participate in two (2) service opportunities that benefit the parishes (ex. Joining the Youth Lector Program or helping with a parish clean-up) and two (2) which benefit the greater community (ex. Volunteering at Cradles to Crayons or organizing donations for a local food pantry).
In-person sessions are offered on Sundays or Wednesdays (choose one on the registration form), from 6-8pm, at The Rock.
