Faith Formation Innovation

Faith Formation for Everyone!

This weekend, February 1 & 2, with the celebration of Candlemas, the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, we begin a new component of Faith Formation seeking to bring individuals and families together at Mass so as to learn more about the richness of our Catholic Faith.  Our growth in Faith begins at the altar, a Mass-focused approach geared towards reaching people of all ages through innovative means.

We are blessed to have secured a grant from the Catholic Community Fund to install video screens and technology in both of our Walpole churches. The mission of that Fund is to help strengthen the Catholic faith in the 144 communities that make up the Archdiocese of Boston.

Each weekend, at every Mass, we will pause after the homily and give our attention to a short video presentation highlighting a topic relevant to our Catholic Faith and following a curriculum. These short presentations will be enhanced by materials in the bulletin, on the website and transmitted by Flocknote.  It is our hope that you will take some time during the coming week to review these materials alone, with your family, your spouse or a friend. Also, we have added the Readings for Mass and the music to our weekly bulletin…so pick up a bulletin when you arrive for Mass each weekend.

We hope this will be a new and favorable approach to bring us all closer to God, more knowledgeable about our Catholic belief, while preserving and enhancing the reverence of our worship. We will continue to offer our young people faith-filled events and incorporate works of community service to help foster a commitment to care for the needs of those who are struggling around us.  However, it all begins with our prayer together at weekend Mass.  The parish that prays together, stays together and grows together!

Finally, this weekend, the Feast of the Presentation (Candlemas), each Mass begins with the Blessing of Candles.  At the end of Mass, please take a blessed votive candle home with you and, if you know of a neighbor or friend who is not able to join us for Mass for whatever reason at all, please bring a blessed candle to them. This might be a good way to include and evangelize our neighbors, family members and friends.  The candle can be used for prayer time, to accompany grace before meals or when reviewing the weeks teaching together.
